The current landscape:
Beyond 12 is a national technology-based nonprofit that was launched in 2010 to dramatically increase the number of students from under-resourced communities who graduate from college and who translate their degrees into meaningful employment and choice-filled lives. In partnership with high schools and colleges, our mobile college success platform and our virtual coaches provide students with the academic, social, and emotional support they need to succeed in higher education and beyond. We envision a world in which a student’s race, zip code, and parent’s level of education will no longer predict their college graduation outcomes or their future success.
"A college degree is vital to a student’s chances of succeeding in their career and life -- I am excited to join Beyond 12’s important efforts to support students on that journey.”
- Shonda Rhimes, creator of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal," Beyond 12 Board Member
THE POSITION
Are you a recent college graduate who is passionate about lifting other students as you climb your own ladders of success? You could inspire the next generation by becoming a college coach. You will work with college students virtually -- by phone, text messaging, email, MyCoach mobile app chat, and social media -- to help them navigate the beginning of their college career and, ultimately, achieve their dream of earning a degree. You will use your academic and personal experiences to help your students set goals, create education plans and budgets, and manage their time effectively so they can be successful in and out of the classroom.
You will also consistently collect important data about your students to keep track of their progress and serve them in the most effective way possible, and help our organization better understand college persistence and graduation trends.
Beyond 12 offers two types of coaching roles: the Dedicated College Coach, who will manage a consistent caseload of students, and a Coaching by Request Coach, who will manage one-off requests for support.
Beyond 12 considers all candidates for BOTH coaching roles, and when making the final decision about employment offers, will indicate which role we are offering to you.
